T28 and T29
The very slim but feature packed Ericsson T28 was a huge success. As many previous, and a few later, mobile phones
from Ericsson it had an external antenna and an active flip. It was released in 1999 and soon became the best selling
mobile phone in several european countries and in America.
The T28 was logically followed by the T29. The T29
had alot of improvements, but I'm not going into detalils when it comes to the predecessors of the T39.
T29 did not really get a chance to become a great success since it was released very shortly before the
release of the much more powerful and good looking T39. The T29 is pictured to the right.
The never released T36
A phone very similar to the T39 was the prototype T36.
It was the worlds first bluetooth phone, unveiled in the year 2000.
Ericsson worked hard on developing two new phones at the time,
the T36 and the R520.
In october Ericsson officially stated that development
of the R520 had been given higher priority and the future of the T36 was uncertain.
Later that month it was announced that the T36 was cancelled. However, the prototype
of the T36 was very similar to what was going to evolve to the Ericsson T39,
released in june 2001.

Peter I had a T39 back in 2001 with the IAT-10 antenna. Best phone ever.
I have an R320s today as of 2021 with the IAT-10 antenna.

David Wei You missed the charging cradle. The Charging cradle for T28/29/39 is pretty much the best one EVER made for any phone.
The styling, the construction, and the quality of electronics, it is still not surpassed by anyone now, and that\'s 2014...
I just dug out mine, and the charging cradle worked wonder now as it had always been.
